The “Youth Mountain and Sea Line” is a pearl necklace on
the coastline of New Taipei City. Linked by eco-friendly transportation tools,
it connects regions from Bali to Sandiaojiao in Gongliao, providing visitors
with a low-carbon travel experience among the azure coast, golden beaches, and
the youthful vibrancy of the bikeways. Here, visitors can explore the ecosystem
of steep mountain trails or charming towns brimming with culture and humanity,
creating unforgettable and touching memories of the mountains and sea.
Sitting by the mountains and the sea, Wanli District
offers an unparalleled blend of stunning seascapes and mountainous landscapes,
complemented by an abundance of culinary delights sourced from both the
mountains and the sea. The district boasts several fishing harbors, including
the renowned Guihou Fishing Harbor. Originally a tranquil and unassuming
fishing village in the Wanli District of New Taipei City, Guihou Fishing Harbor
has gradually evolved into a famous fish market, as it is primarily inhabited
by fishermen who frequently sell their freshly caught produce near the fishing
harbor. In August 2012, the New Taipei City Government established the
"Wanli Crab" brand, which includes three types of sea crabs: Flower
crab (Charybdis feriatus), three-spot crab (Portunus sanguinolentus),
and stone crab (Charybdis natator and Charybdis granulata). Each
year, during the autumn months between September and November, the fish market
near the Guihou Fishing Harbor becomes crowded with people eager to purchase
the delicious Wanli crab. Today, Guihou Fishing Harbor has gained great
acclaim, primarily due to the popularity of the Wanli crab, and has evolved
into one of the most bustling fishing harbors on the northern coast. When
visiting here, be sure to try the most classic dish – Steamed Wanli Crab.
Without the need for additional seasoning, you can fully appreciate the simple
and savory taste of the crab meat, satisfying your taste buds.!
Moreover, in 2019, "Kao's Hydrangea Farm" also
established a third park sized over 10,000 pings in Wanli, New Taipei City.
Visiting the park during its hydrangea blooming season from May to June offers
the opportunity to appreciate the double-heart pattern created by hydrangeas,
streams, and the hydrangea path. Additionally, you can take in the panoramic
view of the vast and stunning hydrangea farm from an elevated vantage point.
The park is beautiful and magnificent, as it features a rich variety of vibrant
and colorful hydrangea species that are truly breathtaking. It also has swings
and a scenery formed by high and low hydrangeas, allowing visitors to take
beautiful photos with a layered perspective. It is indeed a must-visit check-in
photography spot during the spring and summer.
With a total length of 15 km, the Wanjin Bikeway begins
at Jhungjiao Bay in Jinshan District and extends to Green Bay in Wanli
District. The bikeway features a scenic bridge and wooden boardwalks shaded by
green trees, providing a view of the black forest created by coastal sheoak (Casuarina
equisetifolia) and wetland wooden boardwalks. With sandy beaches, sea
views, and charming scenes of small fishing villages, its picturesque mountains
and waters bring a sense of tranquility, making it an excellent place for
people to experience cycling and a new choice for enjoying forest bathing in
northern Taiwan.
If you feel fatigued from
cycling, you can also enjoy a hot spring bath here. Inside the Dapeng Parking
Area, there is a Japanese-style foot hot spring, which is a new scenic spot in
Wanli District. You can enjoy in a soothing foot bath to relax your tense
muscles before resuming your journey after a refreshing rest.
